Loneliness is a very common phenomenon. It goes along with other feelings like being sad or happy. But as the excess of everything is questionable and is not good for the health, so is the case with feelings.
Monophobia is a fear of being alone. It comprises of symptoms such as depression, anxiety, and many more. There is also a prospect of panic attacks when one is going through such a disease. Not only does the person feel all these symptoms by being alone, a mere thought of being alone puts them into a state that is not manageable. Monophobia is a great drain not only on the person who is suffering from it, but just like with other mental diseases, is a great strain on the people around them such as friends and family. This is because of a change in lifestyle monophobia desires. It ultimately strains relationships, inflicting long term harm. For example, a wife who is going through a phase of monophobia makes her husband come back home early from work, just so that she can be with him. Moreover friends who have to be with such a person are not merely providing company, but babysitting the sufferer and in turn suffering too.
Getting into the details of what actually constitutes the fear is important in order to know whether the person controls the fear or the fear controls the person. Is it that the presence of a certain kind of person is required there just a fear of living alone per se. Also, are there other concerns such as those related to personal violence?
Those who are going through monophobia tend to get panic attacks, depression, and anxiety. Also, they might have obsessional symptoms. More detailed symptoms include being short of breath, rapid breathing, nausea, mood swings, irregular heartbeat, over all feelings of dread and so on. However everyone goes through this disease in a different way and it is not necessary that they all are going through the same symptoms.
Relationships with people sometimes tend to be dependent on the fear of being alone. Sometimes we may stay with an abusive partner just because we cannot let them go and be alone. However we all know that relationships based on fear can never be healthy. We should always see that if we are in such a relationship, such a prospect is not there as staying in such a relationship is just plain bad for us.
